Chilled items & warm-weather notice

We ship chilled (perishable) foods with ice-gel packs, kept refrigerated. In warm weather, light oil sweating on cured products such as sucuk/pastırma, or softening of cheese, is normal and not a sign of spoilage — it returns to normal once chilled. Please refrigerate items immediately on delivery and be available to receive your order on the delivery day.

Perishable foods are exempt from the 14-day change-of-mind return; your statutory rights for genuine quality or safety issues remain unaffected.

Description

Dried currants, known in Turkish as kuş üzümü, are tiny, dark, chewy fruits with a concentrated sweet and slightly tangy flavour. This Bodrum pouch is marked 100% natural with no artificial colours or additives and closes again after opening, which makes it easy to keep in the cupboard between uses.

In Turkish cuisine kuş üzümü is best known in iç pilav, the festive rice with pine nuts, liver or spices, and in the stuffing for dolma and sarma. It also belongs in cakes, cookies, pastries, muesli and porridge, and it can be scattered over salads or couscous for a touch of sweetness. For a plumper texture, soak the currants in warm water for ten minutes, drain them, and fold them in near the end of cooking so they stay tender instead of dissolving.

After opening, press out the air, close the pouch and store it in a cool, dry place away from sunlight. Check the pack for the best-before date.
