Duru Pilavlık Yerli Pirinç is the everyday pilaf rice of the Turkish table: a first-class, long-grain rice grown in Türkiye, graded Type C with no more than 5% broken grains. The producer, Duru Bulgur of Karaman, selects the rice at harvest and packs it in factories certified to ISO 22000, IFS and BRC, aiming for the same quality in every grain. The bag contains a single ingredient: rice.
In the kitchen it is the classic base for plain butter pilaf, tomato pilaf, chicken with rice, or the pot that sits beside kuru fasulye, güveç and grilled meats. The maker's own cooking guide is simple: for every cup of rice, add 2.25 cups of boiling water and cook. Many cooks also rinse the rice first and let it rest under a tea towel for ten minutes after cooking so the grains stay separate. It also works well for stuffed vegetables and vine leaves.
Keep the bag in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight; once opened, a sealed jar protects the rice from moisture and odours. The producer states a shelf life of two years for the unopened pack, and this 5 kg size suits large families and regular cooks.
