Seyidoğlu Kuşburnu Marmelatı is a rosehip jam in a 380 g glass jar. Rosehip (kuşburnu) is the red fruit of the wild rose, gathered in autumn in Anatolia and valued for its natural tartness. In a marmelat the fruit is cooked down to a purée, so the texture is smooth and even rather than chunky, and its tangy-sweet taste makes it a favourite on Turkish breakfast tables.
Spread it on fresh bread with butter or kaymak, serve it with white cheese at breakfast, or spoon it over plain yoghurt, pancakes and rice pudding. It also works as a filling for thumbprint biscuits and tarts, and a spoonful stirred into warm water or tea gives a fruity drink on a cold day.
Keep the unopened jar in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. After opening, keep it in the fridge, use a clean, dry spoon each time and follow the storage advice on the label.
