Description

Balparmak Çam Balı is a pine honey in a 460 g glass jar. Unlike flower honeys, pine honey is not made from nectar: bees collect the sweet secretions of scale insects living on pine trees and process them with their own enzymes. Balparmak sources it mainly from pine forests around Yerkesik and Marmaris, and notes that about 92% of the world's pine honey is produced in Turkey. It is known for its dark amber colour, dense texture and a resinous, soft taste.

It suits savoury pairings as well as the morning table. Spoon it over strained yoghurt, spread it on warm bread with kaymak or butter, or serve it beside salty white cheese and walnuts. It also works in tea, granola and baked dishes in place of refined sugar. Balparmak gives one serving as 15 g, about 2 teaspoons, or 45 kcal.

Honey is not suitable for babies under one year old. Store the jar tightly closed in a cool, dry cupboard away from sunlight.
