Lavender honey is a floral honey associated with the aromatic purple lavender fields of the Mediterranean, and it is prized for a delicate, perfumed sweetness with a gentle herbal note. This Bodrum jar sells it as an organic product in a 250 g hexagonal glass jar with a black lid, and the front label displays the Soil Association organic symbol next to the words 'organic lavender honey'.
Its light floral character makes it a pleasant honey to eat simply: spooned onto bread or simit with butter or kaymak, stirred into warm herbal tea or milk, or poured over Greek-style yoghurt, porridge and pancakes. It also pairs well with soft cheeses and with nuts such as walnuts and almonds on a Turkish-style breakfast table. In baking and dressings, a spoonful adds a subtle floral lift that stronger honeys can overpower.
Store the jar at room temperature, away from heat and sunlight, with the lid tightly closed. Honey may naturally crystallise over time; standing the jar in warm (not hot) water will soften it again. Not suitable for infants under 12 months. Please read the label for the full product information.
