Description

Plain poğaça is the all-rounder of Turkish savoury baking: a soft, lightly enriched bun that goes with almost anything. This Maun bag holds eight baked buns, which the pack calls "Gebackene Pastete - Cooked Bun". According to the manufacturer's ingredient list the dough is made from wheat flour, water, a little sugar and salt, raised with fresh sourdough and enriched with vegetable margarine and pasteurised egg, then finished with sesame and nigella (çörek otu) seeds.

Warm the buns following the instructions on the pack until the crust is lightly crisp and the crumb is soft. Split them and fill with white cheese and tomato, sliced cheese, olives or jam, or simply tear them and dip them into soup. They are an easy addition to a Turkish breakfast table, a tea-time plate or a school and work lunchbox.

The buns contain wheat gluten, egg and sesame, and the margarine contains the preservative potassium sorbate. Keep the bag frozen until you need it and follow the thawing and reheating directions on the pack.
