Riviera is Kristal's everyday olive oil. The label describes it as an olive oil composed of refined olive oils and virgin olive oils, which gives it a milder, more neutral taste than extra virgin oil and makes it a flexible choice for the stove. It comes in a 1-litre glass bottle with a dark screw cap, under the green Kristal label that shows the 1938 emblem.
Because the flavour is gentle, Riviera suits dishes where the oil should support rather than dominate: sautéing onions for a pilaf or a menemen, shallow frying aubergines and courgettes, brushing börek or baked pastry, or mixing into a cake batter in place of butter. It also works in a simple dressing when you want a light olive note.
Store the bottle in a cool, dry place away from direct light and heat, and keep the cap closed between uses so the oil stays fresh.
