İkra Kıymalı Mini Mantı is the frozen, ready-to-cook version of Kayseri mantı, one of the best-loved dishes in Turkish home cooking. Each tiny pasta parcel is folded around a savoury filling. The label lists beef, onion, water, flour, eggs, oil, salt and herbs, and the 600 g bag carries a halal mark. The small size is the point: Kayseri mantı is made so small that many pieces fit on one spoon.
According to the instructions on the pack, 600 g (about four portions) goes straight from the freezer into boiling salted water for around ten minutes, then the water is drained. The classic way to serve it is with garlic yoghurt, topped with melted butter that has been sizzled with tomato or red pepper paste, and a sprinkle of dried mint, sumac or chilli flakes. You can also serve it in a warm tomato broth for a lighter meal.
