Description
Plum compote is a cooling classic of Turkish summer tables, where fruit cooked in syrup is served after a heavy meal or poured into glasses as a fruit drink. This Bodrum jar shows deep red plums through the glass, and the label on the front says no added preservatives, colours or sweeteners.
Serve it well chilled, a few plums and some syrup per bowl, next to pilaf, börek or grilled meat, or as a light dessert on its own. The fruit works nicely spooned over plain yoghurt, rice pudding, pancakes or vanilla ice cream, and the syrup, diluted with cold water, gives a refreshing drink in the style of hoşaf.
Store the unopened jar in a cool, dry place and refrigerate before serving. After opening, keep the plums covered in their syrup in a closed container in the fridge and finish within a few days, or follow the storage instructions on the jar.
