Bağcı Biberli is a jar of green olives stuffed with red pepper, a style that has long been part of the Turkish breakfast table. The pack is a 700 g plastic (PET) jar with a red screw lid, so it is easy to open, reseal and keep in the fridge door between meals. The pepper filling gives each olive a slightly sweet, fruity note next to the salty, briny bite of the olive itself.
In a Turkish kitchen these olives are served whole alongside cheese, tomatoes, cucumber, eggs and fresh bread at breakfast, but they are just as handy sliced over a green salad, scattered on homemade pizza or pide, or added to a mixed meze and canapé platter. Because stuffed olives are already pitted, they are convenient to snack on and to chop into savoury pastries, pogaca fillings or pasta salads.
Once opened, keep the olives covered in their brine and store the jar in the refrigerator, using clean utensils to lift them out. Ingredient and allergen details are printed on the label of the jar, so please check the pack if you follow a special diet.
