Marmarabirlik Natural Brine-Cured Black Olives (Doğal Salamura Siyah Zeytin) are naturally cured black table olives packed in a sealed vacuum tray. This pack is the S size, 291 to 320 olives per kilogram, and contains 500 g. Marmarabirlik is the Marmara olive cooperative union, and the label marks the product as made in Turkey.
Black olives of this kind are eaten year-round in Turkey, above all at breakfast with white cheese, tomatoes, cucumber, eggs and bread. Drizzle them with olive oil and a little lemon, or warm them with thyme and chilli flakes for a more fragrant plate. They are also good chopped into salads, onto homemade pizza, into savoury breads and poğaça, or served with grilled halloumi and flatbread.
Keep the sealed tray in a cool, dry place; the producer's catalogue lists a 24-month shelf life for the 500 g vacuum pack. Once opened, move any olives you do not use into a clean, closed container and keep them in the refrigerator.
