Marmarabirlik Natural Black Olives XS come in a classic tin with an 800 g drained weight and carry the producer's size grade of 321 to 350 olives per kilogram. At this size the olives are small and tender, an easy choice for the breakfast table. The label lists just table black olives, water, salt, lactic acid and calcium chloride, with no allergen ingredients, and the tin carries a halal certification mark. The olives are made by the Marmarabirlik cooperative union in Bursa, Türkiye.
Serve them straight from the tin as part of a Turkish breakfast with white cheese, tomatoes, cucumber and warm bread, or add them to a meze table. They are also handy in the kitchen: scatter them over pizza, pide and savoury pastries, chop them into salads and pasta, or stir them into a pilaf or a tomato sauce near the end of cooking. For a simple appetiser, dress with olive oil, thyme, a little lemon and chilli flakes.
Keep the sealed tin in a cool, dry place. Once opened, transfer the olives and their brine into a clean container with a lid and store them in the refrigerator, keeping the olives covered with brine. Contains stones. Do not buy or use swollen or leaking tins.
