Koska Cocoa Tahini Halva (Kakaolu Tahin Helva) is a 350 g block of traditional Turkish sesame halva marbled with cocoa. The recipe published for Koska's cocoa halva range is short: tahini makes up about 57% of it, with sugar, cocoa powder at roughly 2.5%, a little emulsifier, soapwort extract, citric acid and vanillin. The result is the familiar crumbly, melt-in-the-mouth texture of tahini halva with a gentle chocolate note, and the pack carries a 'natural source of fibre' flash. Koska has been making halva in Türkiye since 1907.
In Turkish homes halva is served in thick slices next to a glass of strong tea or a small cup of Turkish coffee, set out on the breakfast table with olives, cheese and fresh bread, or offered to guests as a quick sweet. Cut it with a sharp knife into slim slices or small cubes for the best texture; it also crumbles nicely over vanilla ice cream, warm semolina pudding or a bowl of yoghurt for a simple dessert.
Keep the pack in a cool, dry place and wrap or reseal it tightly after opening so it stays fresh. The halva contains sesame and may contain traces of tree nuts, so please read the allergen information printed on your pack.
