Tahini is paste ground from roasted, hulled sesame seeds, and Koska states that its tahini is made without additives, preservatives, thickeners or added oil. This 300 g version comes in a red-capped squeeze bottle, which makes it easy to portion straight onto bread, salads or into a mixing bowl without scooping. It is naturally rich: the manufacturer's table lists 695 kcal, 57.1 g of fat, 25.7 g of protein and 12.1 g of fibre per 100 g.
In Turkish cooking tahini is spread and swirled with pekmez for breakfast, whisked with lemon, garlic and water into a creamy sauce for fish and salads, and blended into hummus and baba ganoush. It also gives tahinli çörek, cookies and halva their toasted flavour. Natural separation is normal, so stir well before using.
The product contains sesame. Keep the bottle tightly closed in a cool, dry place.
