Chilled items & warm-weather notice
We ship chilled (perishable) foods with ice-gel packs, kept refrigerated. In warm weather, light oil sweating on cured products such as sucuk/pastırma, or softening of cheese, is normal and not a sign of spoilage — it returns to normal once chilled. Please refrigerate items immediately on delivery and be available to receive your order on the delivery day.
Perishable foods are exempt from the 14-day change-of-mind return; your statutory rights for genuine quality or safety issues remain unaffected.
Description
Menengiç coffee is one of Anatolia's oldest hot drinks. It is traditionally made from the roasted, ground berries of the terebinth tree (Pistacia terebinthus), a wild relative of the pistachio, and it is loved for its mellow, nutty character. Kaffka's Sütlü Menengiç Kahvesi is the milky version of this drink. It comes in a round green canister with the English name Milky Pistachio Coffee on the front, and the picture shows a cup of frothy, pale menengiç beside a pile of green terebinth berries.
In Turkish homes menengiç is often served as a warming drink after a meal or on a cold evening, and it goes well with baklava, lokum, dried figs or a few plain biscuits. Follow the instructions on the canister when you make it, including how much powder to use per cup and whether to use water or milk, then serve it in small cups or a mug.
Keep the canister tightly closed in a cool, dry place away from strong smells so the aroma stays fresh. This is the milky (sütlü) version, and terebinth is related to the pistachio, so please read the ingredient and allergen list on the pack before serving, especially if you avoid milk or nuts.
