Attiki Greek Honey, Wild Flora and Thyme comes in a 455 g (16 oz) glass jar under the Attiki Pittas name, whose label reads 'since 1928'. It is honey gathered from Greek wild flora and thyme, with a deep amber colour and the warm, gently herbal aroma that thyme blossoms give.
In a Turkish kitchen it fits naturally on the breakfast table beside kaymak, white cheese, olives and fresh bread, or stirred into strained yoghurt with chopped walnuts. Spoon it over warm pancakes or pişi, drizzle a little over grilled halloumi or a slice of feta, or use it to sweeten a glass of linden or sage tea. A small amount also balances sharp salad dressings and gives roast vegetables a light glaze.
Keep the jar closed in a cool, dry place. Natural honey may thicken or crystallise over time; stand the jar in warm water to loosen it. Honey should not be given to infants under 12 months.
