Bee pollen (arı poleni) consists of small golden granules that bees gather from flowers and press into pellets. They have a mildly sweet, slightly floral taste and a soft, crumbly bite, and a small spoonful is an easy way to add colour and texture to breakfast.
The simplest way to use it is as a topping: sprinkle a little over plain yoghurt with honey, porridge, muesli, fruit salad or smoothie bowls. It can also be stirred into a glass of milk or a smoothie, or scattered on toast spread with butter and honey. Start with a small amount to see how you like the flavour. Bee pollen is a food, not a medicine.
Bee products may trigger allergic reactions in some people. If you have a pollen or bee-product allergy or asthma, are pregnant, or are thinking of giving it to children, speak to a healthcare professional first. Keep it tightly closed after opening, store it in a cool, dry place away from light, and follow any storage instructions printed on the label.
