Muratbey Danablu is a blue-veined cheese sold under the Danablu name, the cheese widely known as Danish Blue, in a 100 g triangular pack. The label gives the name in English, German, French and Dutch and carries the EU Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) emblem. Danablu is known for its white, creamy body marbled with blue-green mould and for a sharp, salty flavour that is noticeably stronger than mild cheeses.
This small wedge is meant for the cheese board. Serve it at room temperature with walnuts, grapes, pears or a spoon of honey, or crumble it over a green salad with sliced apple. It melts well into a warm sauce for steak or pasta, and it can be spread on toasted bread with a few nuts. Because the flavour is strong, a little goes a long way.
It is a chilled product: keep it in the fridge, wrapped or in its pack, and take it out a short time before serving for the best flavour. Check the pack for the ingredient list, allergen information and the best-before date.
