Elifce Yaprak Dolması is a 400 g can of stuffed vine leaves, labelled in Turkish and German as vine leaves filled with rice. The can picture shows the neat little rolls served with lemon wedges and fresh parsley, which is the traditional way to present them. Because it comes in a can, it is a convenient pantry item: there is no rolling, simmering or waiting involved.
Yaprak dolması (also called yaprak sarma) is a cornerstone of Turkish and wider Mediterranean meze. Serve it chilled or at room temperature on a platter with a squeeze of lemon, alongside olives, white cheese, cacık or hummus, or pack a few rolls into a lunchbox. It also makes an easy starter for guests when you add a bowl of thick yoghurt for dipping.
Store the unopened can in a cool, dry cupboard and check the date on the can. Once opened, the manufacturer's storage advice on the can applies; as general guidance, transfer any leftover rolls to a covered container, keep them in the fridge and finish them within a couple of days.
