Chilled items & warm-weather notice

We ship chilled (perishable) foods with ice-gel packs, kept refrigerated. In warm weather, light oil sweating on cured products such as sucuk/pastırma, or softening of cheese, is normal and not a sign of spoilage — it returns to normal once chilled. Please refrigerate items immediately on delivery and be available to receive your order on the delivery day.

Perishable foods are exempt from the 14-day change-of-mind return; your statutory rights for genuine quality or safety issues remain unaffected.

Description

Ali Baba Dibek Coffee with Mastic Gum is a 250 g pack of Turkish dibek coffee with damla sakızı. Mastic gum is the fragrant resin of the mastic tree, which grows around the Aegean, and its fresh, slightly resinous scent has long been used in Turkish milk puddings, ice cream and coffee. Dibek coffee is named after the dibek, the stone mortar in which coffee beans were traditionally pounded, and it is often described as a softer-tasting alternative to classic Turkish coffee.

Prepare it in a cezve, following the coffee and water amounts on the pack. Start with cold water, stir once and heat slowly over low heat. Let the foam rise once, take the pot off the heat and pour slowly so each cup keeps a little foam on top. Mastic coffee is often served after a meal, with a glass of water and a piece of lokum or a small biscuit on the side.

Do not stir once the coffee is in the cup, and leave the settled grounds at the bottom. After opening, keep the pack tightly closed in a cool, dry place away from sunlight. Many dibek coffee blends also contain ingredients such as milk powder or sugar, so please read the ingredient and allergen details on the pack before serving anyone with allergies or dietary needs.
