Description

Cinnamon-flavoured instant drink powder, known in Turkey as tarçın çayı, is a warming favourite when the weather turns cold. The powder dissolves quickly, so there is no brewing, no straining and no loose spices left in the glass. It is a drink mix rather than a brewed tea, with a sweet, spicy cinnamon aroma.

The Ali Baba box gives simple directions: stir two small spoons into a glass of hot water, or one tablespoon into a glass of cold water, and sweeten to taste if you like. Hot in a small tea glass it suits long evenings and afternoon visits; over ice it makes an unusual cooler. Try it with plain biscuits, walnut cookies or a slice of cake.
