Description

Simit is the sesame-crusted ring of bread that Turkish bakers and street vendors sell from early morning. This Maun pack holds five plain (sade) simit, supplied frozen so you can bake only as many as you need. According to the manufacturer's ingredient list they are made from wheat flour, water, sesame (more than 8%), sourdough, sugar, sunflower oil, molasses (pekmez), salt and a bread improver.

Traditionally simit is eaten for breakfast with white cheese, olives, tomato and a glass of black tea, or split open and filled with cheese, jam or tahini. It is just as good as a quick snack next to a bowl of soup. Bake the simit in the oven following the instructions on the pack until the crust is crisp and golden, then serve them warm.

Keep the pack in the freezer until use and avoid refreezing once thawed. The product contains wheat (gluten) and sesame; please check the pack for any further allergen information.
