Description

A good stock changes everything, and a stock cube is the quick way to get there. This box holds twelve Knorr chicken bouillon cubes, with a Turkish and German label (Tavuk Bulyon / Hühnerbouillon, 12 adet Würfel). Knorr cubes are a familiar sight in Turkish kitchens, where they are used to season rice, soups and one-pot dishes. The ingredient list begins with iodised salt and vegetable fat and includes flavour enhancers, sugar, black pepper, turmeric, cumin and dried chicken meat, giving a salty, savoury, lightly spiced result.

For a classic pilaf, fry two cups of rinsed rice in a little oil, dissolve one cube in three cups (600 ml) of hot water, add it to the pan and cook gently, covered, until the water is absorbed. For soup, dissolve one cube in five cups of hot water and add it to your pot as the base for tarhana, vegetable or noodle soups. It also lifts braised vegetables, bean stews and gravies. Because the cube is already salty, taste before adding any extra salt.

Keep the box in a cool, dry place and close it after opening. The cubes contain wheat-derived flavouring and may contain traces of egg, celery, milk, mustard, soy, pine nuts and sesame, so check the pack if you cook for people with allergies.
