Tiryaki is Çaykur's red-pack black tea, named for the devoted tea drinker who never says no to another glass. The producer presents it as a special blend that suits any time of day, with an ideal balance of taste and brew strength, a pleasant aroma and a smooth drink, and containing no additives. The 500 g bag holds loose tea, the pack is marked Siyah Çay (black tea) and names Çay İşletmeleri Genel Müdürlüğü, Rize, as the maker.
Brew it in a çaydanlık: water to the boil in the lower pot, tea in the upper pot with a little boiling water poured over, then about 15 minutes on the lowest heat. Pour a small amount of the dark brew into a tulip glass and top up with hot water to the strength you like. It makes a good everyday tea for breakfast, for the afternoon break with something sweet, and for evenings with guests.
Once opened, keep the bag closed or move the tea into an airtight container, and store it in a cool, dry cupboard away from strong smells and moisture.
