Izgara Zeytin means 'grilled olive': these are pitted green olives marked with grill lines, then marinated with garlic, coriander and thyme in corn oil. The label lists the olives at 68% of the contents, together with salt and E330 (citric acid). The jar holds 1200 g in total, of which 700 g is the drained weight of the olives.
The garlic, coriander and thyme in the marinade give the olives a savoury, herby character. They make an eye-catching addition to a Turkish breakfast table beside white cheese and tomatoes, and they work equally well on a meze platter, in a green salad, chopped over a pizza, or tucked into a sandwich or toasted flatbread. Because they are already pitted, they are convenient to use in cooking and for guests.
Store the jar in a cool, dry place; the production and best-before dates are printed on the lid. After opening, keep it refrigerated with the olives covered by the oil, and take them out with a clean spoon.
