Description

This Bağcı tub holds black table olives that have already been prepared and dressed in a spiced sauce, so they can go straight from the container to the plate. The packaging is labelled 'Baharatlı Soslu Hazır Siyah Zeytin', which translates to ready-to-eat black olives with a spiced dressing, and the tub holds 400 g. Bağcı Zeytincilik has been producing olives since 1986 in Gemiç village, in the Orhangazi district of Bursa, an olive-growing area next to Gemlik, the town most closely associated with Turkish black table olives.

Spiced black olives are a classic part of a Turkish breakfast spread, sitting beside white cheese, tomatoes, cucumbers and fresh bread. They are equally welcome on a meze table, chopped into a salad with tomato and red onion, scattered over a homemade pizza, or folded into warm bread dough. Any dressing left in the tub can be spooned over the olives or over a plate of white cheese for extra flavour.

Follow the storage instructions printed on the tub. Once it is opened, keep the container closed in the refrigerator, keep the olives covered by their dressing, and take out only what you need with a clean spoon.
