Description

Knorr Tarhana Soup (Tarhana Çorbası) is a 74 g sachet of dry soup mix produced in Türkiye. Tarhana, the traditional Anatolian blend of wheat flour, yoghurt, tomato paste, red pepper and onion, makes up 34.5% of the mix, and it is rounded out with dried tomato, wheat semolina, breadcrumbs, mint and chilli flakes. The front of the pack says it is made with tomatoes and onions from sustainable agriculture, and one sachet serves four.

Tarhana soup has a gently tangy, savoury flavour that Turkish families associate with winter and with home cooking. Add the sachet to one litre of cold water, stir until it comes to the boil, then cook on low heat for about 15 minutes before letting it rest and serving, as the directions on the pack describe. A spoonful of butter melted with paprika or chilli flakes, some dried mint and a slice of fresh bread turn it into a satisfying lunch.
