St John's wort (Hypericum perforatum) is a yellow-flowered plant that grows wild across much of the world and is known in Türkiye as binbir delik otu or yara otu. Hünnap makes this oil by macerating the plant in first-grade, pure olive oil, which the maker describes as a cold-steeping method. The ingredient list is a single line, St John's wort oil, and the manufacturer states that it contains no thickener, preservative, colouring or other additives. It comes in a 100 ml amber glass bottle with a white cap, packed in a white carton; the pack also carries the words 'Soğuk Pres'.
According to the maker's page, the oil may be used internally or externally by adults and children over 11, taken straight or mixed with warm water or olive oil, and no more than one teaspoon should be used per day. People who take antidepressant medication, have high blood pressure or use regular medicines are advised by the maker to talk to a health professional first. Because it is an olive-oil based product, 100 ml supplies about 899 kcal, almost all of it fat (99.8 g, of which 14.5 g saturated), with no carbohydrate, sugar, protein or salt.
The maker's page gives no specific storage instructions, so, as with most plant-infused oils, a cool, dark cupboard away from heat and sunlight is a sensible place to keep it. Close the cap tightly after each use and check the pack for the best-before date and any further storage advice. This is a traditional herbal oil and not a medicine.
