Mevlâna Sade Yaprak Çay is a loose-leaf black tea sold under the Goran-Tee name as a Luxus-Mischung, or luxury blend. The producer describes it as pure Ceylon leaf tea from highland tea gardens, where the large leaves are picked by hand, and says that it is refined further in a second production stage in Germany, with about 98% of the dust removed. Its taste is described as soft, balanced and refreshing. This pack holds 500 g.
Sade yaprak means plain leaf tea: nothing is added, so it is a straightforward choice for the daily Turkish tea routine. The producer's own brewing advice is simple. Use about two tablespoons of tea for six glasses, and once the water has boiled, let it stand for about three minutes before pouring it over the leaves, so that it is just off the boil; good-quality water rather than tap water helps the flavour. Do not stir while it brews, and let the leaves settle on their own. For the traditional double teapot, brew a strong tea in the upper pot and dilute it in the glass to taste. Serve with sugar cubes, a slice of lemon or something sweet such as lokum.
Keep the tea in its closed pack or an airtight tin, away from moisture and strong smells, so that its aroma stays fresh. Check the pack for the best-before date.
