Description

Emre Kangal Sucuk from Egetürk is a Turkish-style garlic sausage in the mild (az acılı) version, supplied as a 1 kg pack of thick sausages. The label says that every 100 g of finished sausage is made from 120 g of beef, with beef fat, salt, spices, dextrose and a ripening culture. The pack states 100% beef, carries a halal logo and a note that the beef comes from animals slaughtered according to Islamic rules, and the sausage is made in Germany by Egetürk in Cologne.

Kangal-style sucuk is a breakfast classic. Cut the sausage into rounds, peel off the casing first because the label notes the skin is not edible, and fry the slices in a dry pan until their fat runs, then break eggs over the top for sucuklu yumurta. It is just as good grilled, added to a pot of kuru fasulye (white beans), baked onto a Turkish pide or sliced into a tost. The mild seasoning suits households that like the garlicky flavour of sucuk without too much heat.
