Egetürk Bahar Sliced Beef Pastırma comes in a 100 g tray of thin, ready-sliced pastırma (sığır dilim pastırma). Pastırma is a cured, air-dried beef speciality of Anatolian cooking, traditionally finished with a spice coating built around fenugreek (çemen) and garlic; the German text on this pack describes it as raw beef ham in a spice coating, in slices. The pack carries a Helal mark.
Pastırma is best known from the breakfast table and from pastırmalı yumurta. Lay the slices briefly in a hot pan, crack in eggs and cook until the whites are just set, so the fat renders and the aroma fills the kitchen. It is just as good cold on toast with cheese and tomato, folded into a sandwich or toastie, or added to an omelette or savoury pastry.
This is a chilled product. The pack states storage at +2 °C to +7 °C, so keep it in the fridge, re-wrap it tightly once opened and finish it promptly.
