Chocolate pudding is an everyday dessert in Turkish homes, cafés and pastry shops: quick, comforting and loved by children and adults alike. This Dr. Oetker version is built around reduced-fat cocoa powder and dark chocolate pieces, sweetened with sugar and thickened with starch, and the front of the sachet promises an ideal consistency and ideal taste, with an intense dark chocolate flavour.
To make it, pour 500 ml of milk into a saucepan, tip in the whole sachet and cook over medium heat, stirring all the time. When it comes to the boil, lower the heat and keep stirring for 2 to 3 minutes more, then spoon the pudding into bowls and serve it cold. For a firmer set, Dr. Oetker also suggests cooking it with only 400 ml of milk, pouring it into lightly dampened moulds and turning it out once chilled. Different recipe ideas are printed on the back of the sachet.
Try it with whipped cream, crushed hazelnuts or fresh fruit, layer it in glasses with biscuit crumbs, or use it as the base of a quick pudding cake. Keep the sachet in a cool, dry place. The label states that the product may contain soy, milk and tree nuts, so check it if you are cooking for someone with an allergy.
