Spaghettini is a slimmer version of classic spaghetti: the strands are finer and more delicate, so they cook faster. Barilla's No. 3 is made from durum wheat semolina and water, and the box lists a cooking time of 5 minutes, which makes it a good choice when you need dinner on the table quickly.
Because the strands are slim, they pair best with light sauces that coat them without weighing them down: olive oil with garlic and chilli, a fresh tomato and basil sauce, lemon and parsley, or seafood such as prawns and mussels. For a Turkish-inspired option, try it with sautéed courgette, garlic and a little yogurt, or with a quick tomato sauce and fresh herbs.
A tip from the pack: use about 1 litre of water and 7 g of salt for every 100 g of pasta. Stir in the first minute so the strands do not stick, and drain promptly, as thin pasta overcooks quickly. Store the box dry and away from light and heat. The product contains gluten and may carry precautionary statements about other allergens, so check the label.
