Cannelloni are wide, hollow pasta tubes that are filled, covered in sauce and baked. Barilla's Collezione version comes in a 250 g box and is made from durum wheat semolina and water. The pack states that the tubes need no pre-cooking, so they can be filled straight from the box.
The classic Italian filling is ricotta and spinach under a tomato or béchamel sauce, but the shape is just as good with a minced beef or chicken filling, or with a mix of white cheese and herbs. If you like Turkish flavours, try spinach with crumbled white cheese and a pinch of nutmeg, or a lightly spiced minced lamb filling with tomato and green pepper, finished with grated cheese on top.
Fill the tubes, set them in a single layer in an oiled dish, cover them generously with sauce so they stay moist while baking, and follow the time on the box. Let the dish rest a few minutes before serving. Store the unopened box in a cool, dry place. The product contains gluten; check the label for precautionary allergen statements.
